Unseasonably warm weather is set to continue across Ireland for another few days, with temperatures reaching as high as 22C on Tuesday.

Temperatures climbed to 26C in parts of the country on Monday, with conditions remaining well above the September average.

However, the warm spell will come with some rain, with Met Éireann forecasting a mixed week of showers and drier periods.

Daytime temperatures are expected to fall back into the mid to high teens as the week progresses.

Carlow Weather’s Alan O’Reilly said average temperatures are currently almost three degrees above normal for this time of year.

He said: ‘There is a sign we could see some more unsettled weather arriving around this day next week.

‘We are lucky that there is quite a storm in the Atlantic at the moment, but it’s heading for Iceland and not Ireland this week.’
