Warm tributes have been paid to the motorist who died in Sunday evening’s road traffic collision on the N25.

Richard Prendergast, aged in his sixties, died after the car he was travelling in was in a collision with a bus at Kinsalebeg.

Mr Prendergast resided in the local area and was well-known and respected, according to local Fianna Fáil Councillor Tom Cronin.

He paid tribute to Mr Prendergast describing him as a family man and an accomplished farmer.

“His wife and family will miss him dearly. My sincere sympathies go out to all his family and friends,” he told WLR.

Councillor Cronin also praised the emergency services who responded at the scene.

“They have a very tough role to play. It’s not nice going to an accident. Some of those in the Fire Service in Ardmore would have known Richard very well.”

Gardaí continue to appeal for anyone with any information in relation to Sunday’s collision to get in touch.
