Tributes have been paid to a young woman who died suddenly while on holiday in Portugal.

Aoife O’Brien, 19, died on 27 August and will be remembered as a ‘very funny and charming’ woman, friends said.

Ms O’Brien from Fedamore in Co. Limerick died in Portugal at ‘a place close to her heart’, her family said.

Ms O’Brien’s family asked that ‘in celebration of Aoife’s life’ those attending her reposing and funeral ‘wear bright colours, something yellow if possible, to signify Aoife’s love of colour’.

The O’Brien family also expressed their ‘deepest appreciation’ for the work of ‘paramedics, doctors, and staff at Ryanair, Shannon Airport and Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust, for all their care and support’.

In an online book of condolences for Ms O’Brien, one man wrote that she was ‘such a lovely, very funny, charming’ young lady.

The ‘unspeakably sad news’ of Ms O’Brien’s death while on holiday was also shared on her local parish Facebook page. Her funeral Mass is on Saturday.
