The Prom in Tramore will close to the public this evening as a precautionary measure amid the risk of coastal flooding.

The closure will come into effect from 6pm and remain in place until 8am tomorrow morning, Wednesday, September 30th.

It comes as Waterford remains under a Status Yellow wind and rain warning until 9pm tonight.

Strong onshore winds, high tides and elevated surge levels have prompted concerns over potential flooding in coastal areas.

A number of car parks in Dungarvan are also closing this evening as a precaution, while flood barriers in Passage East may be closed around high tide.
