Sports clubs across Waterford are being encouraged to prepare applications for a new round of the Community Sport Facilities Fund.

Registration for the scheme will open on Monday, September 28th, with applications set to open on October 19th.

The latest funding round introduces a new three-tier structure, with local grants of up to €250,000, Tier 2 grants of between €250,000 and €550,000, and a new Tier 3 offering up to €750,000 for larger multi-sport projects.

The scheme will also include simplified eligibility requirements, reduced lease conditions and greater encouragement for partnerships between sports clubs and schools.

Waterford TD and Minister of State John Cummins is urging local clubs to begin preparing their applications.

He said clubs across the county have previously secured funding for projects including pitches, floodlights, dressing rooms, walking tracks and community sports facilities.

Registration will take place through the Department’s new SPRAOI online system, with organisations already registered on the previous OSCAR system transferring automatically.

Applications will remain open until February 26th, 2027.
