The search for a 52-year-old man missing from Dungarvan has been stood down.

Patrick Rice had been reported missing on Sunday and a Garda appeal for information on his whereabouts was issued.

An Garda Siochana have thanked the public and the media for their assistance and confirmed the search for Mr Rice has concluded.

Pat was an employee of Waterford City and County Council, and in a post online the local authority said: “It is with deep sadness that we share the news that the search for our dear friend and colleague, Pat Rice, has been stood down. Pat was a highly respected member of the Council’s Facilities Team and his dedication, kindness and warmth were felt by everyone who came into contact with him.”

The statement added: “Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest condolences are with Pat’s family, friends, and close colleagues during this incredibly difficult time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.”
