Waterford has been ranked seventh in Ireland for online interest in jewellery, according to new research carried out by a jeweller with a store in Dungarvan.

Ciaran O’Flynn Jewellers, which has stores in Dungarvan and Thurles and has been in business since 1997, analysed five years of Google Trends data.

The research examined searches for rings, necklaces, earrings, bracelets and watches between August 2021 and August 2026.

Waterford placed seventh in the county rankings, behind Tipperary and ahead of Galway.

Kildare topped the list, followed by Dublin, Meath, Cork and Wicklow.

The research also found that December is the most popular time for jewellery searches in Ireland, with interest beginning to rise significantly during November.

Necklaces recorded the largest seasonal increase, with searches in December more than 55% higher than the summer average.

At town level, Ballinasloe in Co. Galway recorded the highest combined jewellery search score, ahead of Rush and Malahide in Dublin.

A spokesperson for Ciaran O’Flynn Jewellers said the findings showed enthusiasm for jewellery across both smaller towns and larger cities.
