A planning application has been lodged to expand the padel tennis facilities at the Woodlands Health and Leisure Club on the Dunmore Road in Waterford.

The proposal would add two outdoor padel tennis courts, bringing the total number at the site from four to six.

The new courts would be located to the rear of the existing leisure club building and would be enclosed by six metre high tempered glass panels, steel mesh fencing and netting.

The plans also include new pathways, security gates and fencing, along with eight six metre lighting columns fitted with a total of 16 floodlights to illuminate the courts.

If approved, the courts would operate seven days a week between 8am and 10pm.

Access to the new courts would be through the existing entrance and corridor of the Woodlands Health and Leisure Club.

A decision on the development is due back from Waterford City and County Council by August 28th.
