Oaklee has secured planning permission from Waterford City and County Council for a new age-friendly housing development at Ballycarnane, Tramore.

The approved development will deliver 25 single-storey, age-friendly independent living homes, comprising 17 one-bedroom homes and eight two-bedroom homes.

Designed to support older people to live independently while remaining connected to their local community, the development will include a central landscaped courtyard, community garden and additional landscaping.

The plans also provide for car and secure cycle parking, a new vehicular entrance and a separate pedestrian entrance.

Located within an established residential area of Tramore, the scheme has been designed to support ageing in place by providing homes suited to residents’ changing needs and creating opportunities for social connection and neighbourliness.

The Tramore development forms part of Oaklee’s wider housing delivery programme. Since the beginning of 2024, Oaklee has delivered 725 new homes across Ireland.

The approved plans prioritise accessibility, safety and quality of life while respecting the scale and character of the surrounding neighbourhood.
