Businesses across Dungarvan and West Waterford are being put in the spotlight as part of a new national competition.

Ireland’s Favourite Local Business 2026 is now open, with people being invited to nominate a local shop, restaurant, hotel, salon, attraction or service they believe deserves recognition.

The winning business will receive a €1,000 Town & City Gift Card, while one person who nominated the winner will also receive a €1,000 gift card.

Dungarvan & West Waterford Chamber is backing the competition, which is open to businesses across the area.

The Dungarvan and West Waterford Gift Card, which launched in November 2025, can currently be spent in more than 100 local businesses.

Chamber CEO Jenny Beresford said the competition gives local businesses an opportunity to gain national recognition.

She said the range of businesses involved in the local gift card scheme highlights the strength of the local offering across Dungarvan and West Waterford.

Nominations are free and the competition closes on November 30th.
