A major water leak from the Adamstown Water Treatment Plant has caused flooding and traffic disruption in Kilmeaden.

Waterford City and County Council have confirmed the main feed has now been shut off, while two smaller gravity feeds are due to be closed within the next half hour.

Rocks and debris have been washed onto the main road with traffic continuing to move through the area, although delays remain in place.

Warning signs have been erected on both sides of the road and no diversions are currently required.

Uisce Éireann is organising a repair crew to fix the leak and assess any damage caused.
