Gardaí in Fermoy are continuing to investigate the disappearance of Conor and Sheila Dwyer, 35 years on.
The couple were last seen on April 30th 1991 leaving St Patrick’s Church near their home on Chapel Hill.
The following day, Sheila spoke with her sister by phone. By May 19th, Sheila’s birthday, there was no answer at the house.
They were reported missing on May 22nd.
When Gardaí searched the home, passports and around £1,000 in cash were found inside. Some clothing was missing, but nothing else appeared disturbed.
Conor’s car, a white Toyota Cressida registered number (5797 ZT) is still outstanding since the couples’ disappearance.
While all ports were notified at the time, there were never any reports of the car having left the country.
He was 62 at the time of his disappearance, while Sheila had just turned 60. She is described as quiet and in good health.
Conor worked as a caretaker at Castlelyons House, where he was often seen driving high-value cars. He was also known locally as a former taxi driver.
The investigation remains open, with Gardaí continuing to follow lines of enquiry in Ireland and abroad.
Conor was 5 foot 8, with a stocky build, tanned complexion, a receding hairline, and wore glasses.
Sheila was 5 foot 4, with a slim build, fair complexion, and long blonde hair.
The case remains open and active, with several reviews over the years.
Gardaí have followed lines of enquiry in Ireland and abroad, and the River Blackwater has been searched a number of times.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Gardaí.
