Gardaí have intensified their investigation into a body found in Mallow, Co. Cork amid claims that the person did not die a ‘natural death’.
The body of an adult man, who is yet to be identified, was discovered in Ballyellis, Mallow in Cork on Thursday afternoon (October 15).
Gardaí have since launched an investigation into the incident, with an incident room established at Mallow Garda Station.

While Gardaí are still waiting for a post-mortem investigation to determine the course of their investigation, a local councillor has suggested it was not a ‘natural death’.
Fine Gael councillor Liam Madden, who represents those in Kanturk and Mallow, has described an increase in Garda activity, with divers from the water unit seen scouring the river.
It is understood that the body was discovered on a walkway, with Mr Madden describing the location of the incident as being in a ‘secluded’ area, according to the Mirror.

‘It’s just sad for the community. The person is somebody with a family and that’s going to be heartbreaking for them,’ he explained.
Mr Madden again stressed that he was hopeful that more information would be released soon and stressed that the post-mortem would provide answers. However, he did stress that the ‘level of (Garda) activity points to something else’.
It is understood that beyond the postmortem, a forensic examination of the scene is also being carried out as investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
