Funeral details have been announced for the West Waterford farmer who died in a road traffic collision on the N25.

Richard (Wally) Prendergast of D’Loughtane, Clashmore, aged in his sixties, died on Sunday evening when the car he was driving was in a collision with a bus at Pilltown, Kinsalebeg.

Richard has been fondly remembered by many in the community as a devoted family man and respected farmer.

His death notice reads that he was predeceased by his parents William and Josie, brother Declan and Joseph.

He is survived by his wife Caroline, sons Marcus, William, John and Patrick, daugthers-in-law to Jessica, Aisling, Claire and Lisa.

Richard is described as “adored grandad (ya ya)” of Josie, Emily, Eve, Ruadhán, Éaladh, Alba and Haley.

He is also survived by his siblings Billy, Sheila and Bernadette, nieces, nephews, neighbours and friends.

Reposal will take place in Egans Funeral Home, Greencloyne, Youghal on Wednesday evening from 5pm to 6.30pm.

Requiem Mass will be held on Thursday morning at 11am in St. Cronan’s Church, Clashmore, with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Gardaí continue to appeal for anyone with any information in relation to Sunday’s collision to contact them.
