Two playgrounds in Dungarvan are set to undergo major upgrade works in the coming weeks.

Waterford City and County Council has announced improvement works for Dungarvan Linear Park and Walton Park Playground.

Work at Dungarvan Linear Park is due to begin on Monday, September 7th, with the existing timber play equipment to be removed.

It will be replaced with new safety surfaces and a range of new equipment, including a multi-play unit, zip-line, in-ground trampoline, 4.5-metre-high space net, spinning cup and four-seater seesaw.

The park will close to all users from September 7th until the end of the month while the works are carried out by Browne Brothers.

Once the Linear Park project is completed, work will begin at Walton Park Playground.

Plans there include a new senior multi-play unit, a junior multi-play unit and another 4.5-metre-high space net.

Further playground upgrades are also planned for An Rinn and Ardmore later this autumn.

The projects are being funded by Waterford City and County Council alongside the Government’s Capital Grant Scheme for Play and Recreation.

The scheme, administered by the Department of Children, Disability and Equality, provides funding for new and existing play and recreation facilities for children and young people.
