People across Co. Waterford have until tomorrow evening to have their say on proposed changes to speed limits across the city and county.

Waterford City and County Council’s public consultation on its Draft Special Speed Limit Bye-Laws 2026 closes at 5pm on Thursday, August 13th.

The proposals cover speed limits in built-up and urban areas, with published maps showing existing special speed limits, proposed new limits and changes to some limits already in place.

The consultation forms part of Phase 2 of the Department of Transport’s wider speed limit review and includes the introduction of 30km/h limits where considered appropriate.

The Council has carried out pre-consultation with An Garda Síochána and Transport Infrastructure Ireland on the proposals.

Members of the public are being invited to examine the draft maps and make submissions where they believe a proposed limit should be changed, added or reconsidered.

The new bye-laws are due to be adopted by October 31.
