Joanne McNally has hilariously described just how different summer is going in Ireland than in the UK.
Both here and across the water, we’re experiencing heatwaves of varying intensity, with Ireland seeing temperatures soar to 30C in recent weeks and a nationwide hosepipe ban now in place until the end of August.
However, in the UK, it’s far hotter — with temperatures peaking this week at 35C and a drought being declared in parts of the UK.
The contrast in weather, despite us being such close neighbours, is stark — with Dublin comedian Joanne McNally, who lives in England, perfectly summing up just how mental it is.
‘I’m in London, where we have been dealing with El Niños, and the heatwave, and everything,’ Joanne said on My Therapist Ghosted Me. ‘Got back to Ireland…’ before co-host Vogue interjected: ‘stunning.’
‘I woke up, [and] I was like: “I’m not even sweating, I’ve a duvet on me…” there was people eating soup in Ireland!’
Vogue agreed that it was far cooler in Ireland, telling Joanne: ‘It’s the sea air in Ireland that blows in; it’s just different.’
‘It was like winter; I went back on Hinge,’ Joanne joked. ‘It’s cuffing season!’
Joanne’s stand-up career has gone from strength to strength in recent years, with the star set to make her Netflix debut next year.
The Netflix special, named after Joanne’s Pinotphile tour, is set to hit the streaming giant in 2027, with the hour long show seeing Joanne talk about modern dating stories’, including ‘situationships, revenge, frenemies and rejection,’ according to an official description.
Filming will take place at Town Hall in New York City as part of the New York Comedy Festival on November 7.
Pinotphile will be produced by Matthew Vaughan of Rotten Science alongside Rick Hughes at Off the Kerb.
McNally is currently on the road for her tour of Pinotphile, with two upcoming shows in Cork on August 28 and 29. She will also begin her first nationwide US tour in Seattle in September.
