Alan O’Reilly of Carlow Weather took to X on Monday, confirming temperatures are expected to hit 29C with the fine spell of summer weather expected to last ‘well into next week.’

The weather expert followed up to confirm that the period of heat will also result in warm nights.

‘We could see nights where temperatures don’t drop below 19C in parts and dew point at peak of day temps around 20C making it feel very heavy,’ he shared online.

Met Éireann say that today (Monday, July 6) will be dry for most of the day with hazy sunshine developing across the Midlands, South and East.

Temperatures in the West and Northwest will hit between 16 and 19 degrees, though elsewhere will climb up to between 20 and 25.

Patchy light rain is forecast for Tuesday, though the national forecaster warns of generally ‘low to mid-twenties’ temperatures — higher in the east and southeast.

Similarly, Wednesday will see temperatures of 18 to 20 degrees in the northwest and west, though elsewhere could see temperatures of 27 to 28 degrees.

Thursday will see ‘a good lot of clouds’ but dry apart from a few light patches of rain.

Temperatures will drop down to the low to mid twenties, but will climb up on Friday.

As for the weekend, they said: ‘It’s going to continue very warm or hot by day with temperatures generally in the mid to high twenties, possibly a little higher in places, highest across the midlands and west.

‘Very warm and muggy by night with temperatures not falling below 16 to 19 or 20 degrees.’

Looking towards next week, the forecaster confirmed it will be more of the same, though there is an ongoing chance of some showers and thunderstorms.

Make sure to keep hydrated, folks!
