Waterford’s Vincent Keane has returned from the IBTA World Blind Tennis Championships with a bronze medal.

The championships took place in Vilnius, Lithuania, from August 24th to 29th, bringing together vision impaired tennis players from around the world.

Keane represented Ireland in the B2 category and secured bronze in the doubles competition alongside Luxembourg’s Nicolas Berodt.

Vision impaired tennis is divided into four classifications, ranging from B1 for players with no vision to B4 for those with some usable vision.

Keane was one of three Irish players competing at this year’s World Championships.

He was joined by Stuart Haxell, who competed in the B1 category, and Marguerite Quinn, who represented Ireland in the B3 category.

The bronze medal capped off a successful week in Lithuania for the Waterford player, with competition concluding on Saturday, August 29th.
