Waterford golfer Seamus Power has put himself firmly in contention at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship after producing a superb second round on Friday.
The 39-year-old carded a bogey-free, seven-under-par 64 to move to 12 under par overall and into a share of the clubhouse lead at Port Royal Golf Course.
Power, who claimed victory at the tournament in 2022, is chasing another strong result as he looks to secure his PGA Tour playing privileges for next season.
The West Waterford man opened the tournament with a five-under-par 66 on Thursday before moving up the leaderboard with seven birdies in his second round.
Starting from the 10th tee, Power made his first birdie at the par-three 13th before picking up further shots at the 17th and 18th to reach the turn in 32.
He maintained his momentum on the front nine, making consecutive birdies at the third and fourth holes.
Two more birdies followed at the sixth and ninth as Power completed an impressive round without dropping a shot.
His 64 moved him alongside American Chandler Blanchet at the top of the leaderboard, with Friday’s second-round play still ongoing.
With two rounds remaining, Power will be hoping to build on his strong start at a venue where he has already enjoyed PGA Tour success.
