Waterford manager Mick Boland says his side “won’t leave any stone unturned” as the Déise prepare for today’s Munster Senior Camogie Championship Final against Tipperary.

The counties meet in FBD Semple Stadium, Thurles, this evening, with throw-in fixed for 4:45 pm as Waterford bid to end a 67-year wait for provincial glory at senior level.

Speaking to WLR ahead of the decider, Boland admitted Tipperary deserved their earlier championship win over Waterford, but insists his side learned valuable lessons from the defeat.

“We gave a lot of girls an opportunity that day against some of the top players in the country,” he said.

“In fairness to Tipperary, they were very good on the day, and we just didn’t match them.”

Waterford come into the final on the back of a comprehensive victory over Kerry, though Boland acknowledged that Tipp may have benefited more from their tougher semi-final encounter.

“They probably got more out of their match than we got out of ours,” he admitted.

“But it gave us a chance to regroup, give players opportunities, and continue developing the squad.”

The Déise boss says the history surrounding the fixture will not distract his panel, despite the lengthy wait for a Munster title.

“This group of players can only look after their own destiny,” Boland said.

“The bottom line is we’re back in another final where we want to be. We’ve learned a lot this year, and I’ve no doubt the girls will give everything on Saturday.”

Boland also praised the impact of several players throughout the campaign, including Lorraine Bray, Annie Fitzgerald, and Clodagh Carroll.

He says Waterford’s tactical tweaks have helped unlock Bray’s attacking threat from midfield.

“That’s why Lorraine is getting a lot of scores and seeing a lot of ball. We’re expecting players to drive forward and create opportunities.”

The Waterford manager also welcomed the chance for his side to play on the big stage in Thurles as part of a double-header.

“These girls deserve to be playing in stadiums like Thurles,” he said.

“For the amount of effort every team puts in, they must get the opportunity to promote their game on a big occasion.”

WLR will have live updates from Tomas McCarthy throughout the Munster Senior Camogie Championship Final on Saturday evening.
