SETU Arena is once again hosting the GAA World Games as more than 2,000 players, coaches and supporters arrive in Waterford for the international tournament.

The O’Neills.com GAA World Games run from today until Friday, bringing together over 100 teams from World GAA clubs across every continent to compete in hurling, camogie, Gaelic football, ladies’ Gaelic football and handball.

SETU Arena at Carriganore will host group-stage matches and knockout games throughout the week, having previously welcomed the tournament in 2019.

Events and Business Manager at SETU Arena, Paul Morrissey, said the venue is delighted to welcome the competition back to Waterford.

‘Having hosted the event in 2019, we know first-hand the unique atmosphere it creates, bringing together players, families and supporters from across the world through a shared passion for Gaelic games,’ he said.

He added that hosting the Games is an opportunity to showcase both the arena’s facilities and Waterford to an international audience.

Admission to all matches at SETU Arena from Monday to Thursday is free, with members of the public encouraged to attend and support teams that have travelled from across the globe.

The tournament concludes on Friday with finals day at Azzuri Walsh Park, followed by the closing ceremony in Waterford City.

The event is also expected to provide a boost to the local economy, with thousands of visitors staying in the South East throughout the week.
