The wait is over for Waterford’s senior footballers, with the JJ Kavanagh & Sons Co. Senior Football Championship getting underway Today.

Defending champions Rathgormack begin their title defence against Roanmore in Group B, with that game thrown in at 2 pm at Azzurri Walsh Park.

There’s another Group B clash at the same time, as Abbeyside-Ballinacourty take on Stradbally at the Cappoquin Logistics Fraher Field in Dungarvan.

Group A then takes centre stage in the afternoon.

An Rinn face The Nire at 3.30 pm in Dungarvan, while Gaultier meet Kilrossanty at 3.45 pm at Azzurri Walsh Park.

With the first points of the championship up for grabs, all eight teams will be looking to make a winning start, while Rathgormack begin their bid to retain the title they claimed last year.
