West Waterford golfer Seamus Power will look to build on a solid opening round when he returns to action at the World Wide Technology Championship in Mexico this afternoon.

Power carded a three-under-par 69 on day one at El Cardonal in Los Cabos, leaving him six shots off the lead and tied for 46th on a congested leaderboard.

The 38-year-old recorded six birdies and three bogeys during his opening round, with 23 players sharing his position.

Power heads into the tournament in good form after securing his full PGA Tour card for the 2027 season with a second-place finish at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship last month.

Austen Smotherman narrowly beat him on the third hole of a play-off in Bermuda.

The West Waterford man is scheduled to tee off at approximately 1.50 pm Irish time today for his second round, alongside Patton Kizzire and Zach Bauchou.

Power will be hoping for another strong performance as he looks to move up the leaderboard and maintain his late-season momentum.
