Manchester City remain top of the Premier League after maintaining their 100 per cent start to the season with a thrilling 5-3 win over Sunderland.

City took advantage of Arsenal’s 3-0 defeat to Brighton on Saturday to move three points clear at the summit.

Enzo Fernandez opened the scoring before Sunderland’s Brian Brobbey scored twice in 33 minutes. Antoine Semenyo then restored City’s lead before the break.

Semenyo added his second after half-time, but Brobbey completed his hat-trick to keep Sunderland in the contest. Erling Haaland then sealed the points late on for Pep Guardiola’s side.

The result means Haaland has now scored against every Premier League team he has faced.

Liverpool also maintained their unbeaten start with a 1-0 win away to Bournemouth.

Alexander Isak scored the only goal of the game in the second half, with the Swedish striker moving to four league goals for the season, behind only Haaland in the Golden Boot race.

It was a winning return to Bournemouth for Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola, who left the south coast for Anfield during the summer.

Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw by Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Fulham took the lead when Calvin Bassey’s effort was initially saved before the rebound went in off Lisandro Martinez.

United rescued a point in the 89th minute when Matheus Cunha’s effort took a deflection and found the net.

It means United have five points from their opening five league games, their joint-lowest tally at this stage of a Premier League season.

And Leeds United remain unbeaten after a goalless draw with Crystal Palace at Elland Road.

Tyrick Mitchell had a goal ruled out for offside shortly after half-time, but neither side could find a winner.
