Gaultier LGFA may be a relatively young club, having been founded in 2014, but the club has already established itself as a growing force in Waterford ladies football.

Based just outside Dunmore East, Gaultier caters for girls from under-five level through to adult football. Over the past 12 years, the club has continued to grow and has been able to field two teams at each age group from under-12 through to adult level.

That development has also brought success on the pitch, with the club competing strongly across a number of age groups in recent years.

A major milestone came in 2023 when Gaultier finally captured the Intermediate Championship, and now, in only their third year at senior level, they have reached the biggest stage of all.

Gaultier will play in their first-ever Waterford Ladies Senior Football Championship final on Friday night, with Ballymacarbry providing the opposition under the lights at Friarfield.

Their route to the final saw them defeat the reigning champions, Comeragh Rangers, in the semi-final, setting up a historic occasion for the club.

The achievement is the latest step in the progression of a club which has placed a strong emphasis on developing players from a young age.

With the senior team now preparing for their first county final, there is a sense that Gaultier’s journey is only beginning, with the club hoping to inspire the next generation of young players coming through its ranks.

As Gaultier player Molly Comerford told WLR, the excitement around the club is already clear, with flags going up and everyone getting behind the team.

For a club founded just 12 years ago, reaching a first senior county final represents another significant chapter in its rapid rise.
