Gaultier booked their place in the J.J. Kavanagh Sons Senior Football Championship semi-finals with a 15-point to 5-point victory over Stradbally at Fraher Field.

In difficult conditions, with wind, rain and fog affecting proceedings, Gaultier made the most of the strong breeze in the first half to establish a commanding lead.

Sean White opened the scoring after just two minutes, before Dessie Hutchison added a point in the 25th minute.

Mark Fitzgerald, the Waterford inter-county hurler, then landed a two-pointer from 52 yards, before White added another point. JJ Hutchison converted a free just before half-time as Gaultier went in leading by six points to no score.

Gaultier continued to add to their tally after the break, with Hutchison converting another free in the 35th minute before Fitzgerald claimed his third point of the game five minutes later.

Stradbally finally got on the scoreboard in the 43rd minute through John Bruton, before Michael O’Brien landed a two-pointer in the 47th minute.

O’Brien added another two-pointer late on, but Gaultier maintained their advantage with further scores from JJ Hutchison and substitute Sean Cullnane.

Gaultier held on to secure a ten-point victory and confirm their place in the championship semi-finals.
