Gailltír and Cappaquin meet in the first of two Waterford Camogie Senior Championship semi-finals at Walsh Park on Saturday afternoon.

The sides will go head-to-head at 1.30 pm, with both clubs targeting a place in the county final.

Gailltír manager Darren Cooney says his side have prepared well since the last round of the championship.

They have had challenging games, internal games and training over the past month, while several players have also been involved with the club’s football team.

Gailltír have already faced Cappaquin this season, with Cooney expecting another physical contest.

He highlighted the influence of Waterford stars Lorraine Bray and Orla Hickey, while also praising the strength and balance throughout the Cappaquin team.

Cappaquin reached the semi-final after a quarter-final victory over Modeligo, while Gailltír received a bye into the last four.

Cappaquin captain Aisling Power says her side knows exactly what is required against a Gailltír team that has plenty of experience at this stage of the championship.

Power believes the scoreline in their previous meeting did not fully reflect Cappaquin’s performance, but she knows they will have to improve their scoring if they are to progress.

She also pointed to the confidence gained from their recent wins over Modeligo, Tramore and Ballysaggart.

Cappaquin can call on the experience of players such as Lorraine Bray and Orla Hickey, while Power herself could come up against Gailltír defender Clodagh Carroll.

Power says Carroll is an outstanding defender who reads the game extremely well, but believes Cappaquin have enough quality around the forward line to cause problems.

Gailltír are looking to reach another county final, while Cappaquin will be aiming to build on their recent run of form and secure their place in the decider.

The other semi-final sees reigning champions De La Salle take on St Anne’s at Walsh Park at 3.30 pm.
