Munster Rugby have confirmed that Ireland international Edwin Edogbo has signed a two-year contract extension, keeping him at the province until at least 2029.
The 23-year-old second row has committed his future to Munster despite attracting significant interest from clubs across Europe.
Edogbo, who came through the ranks at Cobh Pirates and UCC, became the first player from Cobh to join the Munster Rugby Academy in 2021.
Since making his senior debut against Dragons in 2022, he has scored seven tries in 31 appearances for the province.
He played eight times during Munster’s United Rugby Championship-winning campaign in 2022/23 and featured in the memorable victory over South Africa A at Páirc Uí Chaoimh in November 2022.
However, his progress was interrupted by a serious Achilles injury sustained against Leinster in December 2023, which ruled him out for the remainder of that season and the entire 2024/25 campaign.
Edogbo returned to action against Edinburgh in October 2025 and went on to make 16 appearances last season, including his Champions Cup debut against Bath.
His performances earned him a place in Ireland’s Six Nations squad, making his international debut against Italy in February.
His younger brother Seán is also part of the Munster senior squad, having made his debut against Dragons last season.
Edogbo is currently recovering from a shoulder injury but is expected to return to action in the coming weeks.
Munster Rugby General Manager Ian Costello welcomed the contract extension, describing Edogbo as a key part of the province’s future.
“We are delighted that Edwin has made the decision to commit his future to Munster, despite significant interest from clubs across Europe.
“He is part of an exciting group of emerging home-grown players that are pivotal to the future success of the club.
“Edwin possesses unique qualities, and has the potential to excel at the highest level.”
Munster Head Coach Clayton McMillan also praised the 23-year-old’s determination to overcome injury setbacks.
“Edwin is a talented young player with a physical profile that is highly sought after in the modern game. He has the size, athleticism and work ethic to make a significant impact at the highest level.
“We’re grateful that Edwin has chosen to commit his future to Munster. He has worked hard through some challenging setbacks and is an important part of what we are building here.
“We look forward to seeing him continue to develop and fulfil his potential in the years ahead.”
