De La Salle produced a dominant second-half display to defeat St Anne’s 5-15 to 13 points in the second Waterford Senior Camogie Championship semi-final at Walsh Park.

The result sets up a final meeting with Gailltír, who defeated Cappoquin in the opening semi-final.

St Anne’s started the game brightly and opened up a three-point lead, with Niamh Rocket hitting all three scores, two from frees and one from play.

De La Salle eventually opened their account after nine minutes through a free from Beth Carton.

Carton added two further scores, another free and a point from play, before Niamh Rocket responded with her fourth point of the afternoon.

De La Salle then struck for the game’s opening goal, with Maggie Gostl getting in behind the St Anne’s cover before finishing brilliantly to the net.

Aisling Bonner got a point for St Anne’s before another Beth Carton free was followed by De La Salle’s second goal.

Gostl again found space behind the cover and made no mistake with the finish, before adding another point shortly afterwards.

Katie Mullane also got on the scoresheet before Carton added two more points to leave De La Salle 2-8 to 7 points ahead at half-time.

St Anne’s had a chance to get a goal back when Áine Mackey got in behind the De La Salle defence, but Brianna O’Regan produced an important one-on-one save.

De La Salle had been playing into a strong breeze during the opening half.

The second half, however, belonged to De La Salle.

Abbie Mullane opened the scoring after just a minute, with her sister Katie then adding two further points.

Substitute Holly Ryan subsequently found the net for De La Salle as they began to pull clear.

St Anne’s eventually got their first score of the second half through Róisín Kirwan in the 42nd minute, followed by points from Niamh Rocket and Áine Mackey.

By then, however, the damage had been done.

Beth Carton added another point before Katie Mullane struck for De La Salle’s fifth goal, with Maggie Gostl and Abby Flynn also getting on the scoresheet late on.

De La Salle finished the game in complete control as they booked their place in the Waterford Senior Camogie Championship final.

Katie Mullane, Beth Carton, Abby Flynn, Keeley Corbett-Barry and Brianna O’Regan were among the standout performers for De La Salle.

For St Anne’s, Róisín Kirwan, Niamh Rocket and Áine Mackey worked hard throughout, but they were unable to match De La Salle’s second-half scoring burst.

It means the Waterford Senior Camogie Championship final will see Gailltír face De La Salle.
