Abbeyside-Ballinacourty have booked their place in the J.J. Kavanagh & Sons Senior Football Championship semi-finals following a 2-13 to 1-4 victory over An Rinn at Fraher Field.

In difficult conditions, Abbeyside dominated proceedings for much of the contest, building a commanding lead before An Rinn registered their first score in the 54th minute.

Sean Whelan Barrett opened the scoring after two minutes, before Seanie Callaghan added a point two minutes later.

Abbeyside struck for their first goal in the fifth minute, with Aaron Beresford converting a penalty after Brian Looby was fouled inside the box.

Looby added a point in the 12th minute, before Daire Slevin and Willie Beresford also found the target. Further scores from and Brian Looby helped Abbeyside continue to build their advantage.

The highlight of the first half arrived in the 22nd minute when Seanie Callaghan finished to the net after a superb individual run, beating two defenders before finding the back of the net.

Aaron Beresford added a free before the break as Abbeyside went in with a substantial lead.

Beresford continued to add to the scoreboard after the restart, while Callaghan, Willie Beresford and Daithí Brunnock also contributed scores as Abbeyside moved further clear.

An Rinn finally opened their account in the 54th minute when substitute Donal Breathnach landed a two-pointer. Breathnach also converted a penalty after Caolán Mac Craith was fouled, while Fearghal Ó Cuirrín added a further point.

However, Abbeyside had done more than enough to secure a comfortable victory and join Gaultier in advancing to the semi-finals of the J.J. Kavanagh & Sons Senior Football Championship.
