A new event titled 'Sunrise Stroll' is set to replace the annual Darkness into Light event in Tramore.
This follows the announcement by the organising committee of Darkness into Light Waterford City cancelling the walk, as announced on Deise Today
The decision came on foot of the planned closure of Pieta House in Waterford, with it described by Pieta as "a strengthened regional and local service model aligned with national health strategies and the development of HSE Regional and Integrated Healthcare Areas".
Fionnuala Cromer, Annette McNeill and Chris Farnan joined Ollie and Dymphna on air to discuss their reasons for the Sunrise Stroll.
Fionnuala, who has been a participant in Waterford's Darkness into Light since its inception, spoke of the need for a community event promoting togetherness and support.
Donations will be made to local suicide prevention organisation, Re-A-Suir via bucket collection and Revolut.
