A Yellow weather warning for Waterford has been issued by Met Éireann, with heavy and persistent rain throughout Thursday.

The warning also applies to Cork, with a risk of localised flooding and difficult travelling conditions across affected areas.

Warning valid from early morning to evening

The Yellow weather warning Waterford will come into effect from 3am on Thursday, April 30th and remain in place until 6pm the same day.

Forecasters say rainfall will be persistent, with periods of heavy downpours and the possibility of thundery conditions at times.

Flooding and travel disruption expected

According to Met Éireann, the main risks associated with the warning include:

  • Localised flooding, particularly in low-lying and poorly drained areas
  • Hazardous travelling conditions on roads
  • Reduced visibility due to heavy rain

Motorists are advised to take extra care, slow down, and allow additional time for journeys during the warning period.

Public urged to stay informed

Residents across Waterford are being encouraged to stay up to date with weather forecasts and to take precautions where necessary.

Those in flood-prone areas should remain particularly vigilant as conditions develop throughout the day.
