John Tierney has been recognised by the HSE and the National Ambulance Service for 40 years of service saving lives within the community.
Literally born into the service to Jack and Bridget, John grew up in the grounds of the hospital with his father an ambulance driver and his mother a nurse.

The sound of pagers, the rush of the call-outs, and the impact of seeing healthcare in real-time saw John embark on his own career within the National Ambulance Service, following in the footsteps of his grandfather and his father before him.
What followed was a new family, where support was offered during the darkest hours, and where understanding the scope of the role was built into the very fabric of their being.
Joining Ollie and Dymphna to reflect on a life within the National Ambulance Service, John Tierney spoke of the legacy established by the Cooney and Tierney families, and the importance of life-saving skills within the community.
