A woman has been arrested in connection with the disappearance and murder of six-year-old Kyran Durnin.

Aged in her 50s, the woman was taken by Gardaí on Monday morning and is currently being held at a station in the eastern region.

A warranted search is also being carried out at the rear of a house in Drogheda, Co Louth.

In August 2024, Kyran and his mother were reported missing from a Louth home.

While his mother’s whereabouts were later established, he was never found and Gardaí opened a murder investigation.

Two people, a man and a woman, were previously arrested in connection with Kyran’s disappearance but were later released.

No one has been charged with his murder to date and no body has been found.

Tusla has been in contact with Kyran and his family, though their engagement ended in 2022.

However, the young boy stopped attending school in the south after the summer of that year.

Kyran would be nine years old if he were alive today.
