Met Éireann has issued Status Yellow weather warnings for several counties across Ireland.
The national forecaster has issued a Status Yellow fog warning for Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, and Connacht – Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Roscommon and Sligo.
Met Éireann has warned that the fog may cause ‘poor visibility’, along with ‘difficult travelling conditions’.

The forecaster said: ‘Dry and cold tonight with mostly clear skies at first, but with some mist and fog forming, likely becoming widespread and dense across parts of Ulster, Connacht and north Leinster.
‘Lowest temperatures generally of -1C and 4C, with some frost, though less cold in some eastern and southern coastal parts. Winds will just be light variable or east to northeast.’

Met Éireann went on to say that there would be ‘a cold start’ to Tuesday.
The meteorologists added: ‘The mist and fog will gradually clear through the morning and will possibly linger in some areas into the afternoon.
‘Otherwise it’ll be a mostly dry day, with good spells of sunshine developing. However, cloud will build from the east at times, bringing a few showers, especially further to the east.

‘Highest temperatures generally of 9C to 12C in mostly light variable breezes, later becoming light to moderate northeast to east.’
Met Éireann also issued its national outlook for the week ahead, saying that a high-pressure system will be ‘in control’ for the foreseeable future.
It continued: ‘The best of the sunshine is likely early in the period, while it’ll be a bit cloudier through the second half of the week. There’ll be a bit more of an easterly breeze too through the second half of the week, helping to limit fog and frost.
‘Into the weekend the winds may ease light again, so probably a bit colder, with more in the way of fog and frost possible once again.’
