Waterford Libraries will take part in National Public Libraries Open Day later this month.

The event takes place on Saturday, September 26th and is aimed at encouraging people to explore the range of services available through their local library.

Library membership is free, with services including books, eBooks, eAudiobooks, eNewspapers, eMagazines and online learning resources.

Waterford Libraries will also host a number of events to mark the day.

These include a magic show at Ardkeen Library, a Giant Doodle event at Central Library and a Book Party for Adults at Ardkeen Library.

Mary Conway, Waterford City and County Librarian, said libraries continue to play an important role as community spaces for people of all ages.

She said they provide places for learning, social connection, study and access to digital resources.

National Public Libraries Open Day is taking place under the theme ‘Take a Closer Look’, highlighting the changing role of libraries and the services they now provide beyond traditional book lending.
