Waterford businesses are being encouraged to view sustainability as an opportunity to improve efficiency, reduce costs and strengthen long-term resilience.
Around 80 local businesspeople attended a Waterford Chamber event at the Viking Hotel on Wednesday, September 30th, focused on how sustainability can create business value and improve competitiveness.
The event, Creating Business Value through Sustainability, was delivered by Waterford Chamber in partnership with AIB.
Waterford Chamber President Marion Walsh said sustainability is becoming increasingly important to how local businesses plan for growth and manage costs.
She said the Chamber wants to provide businesses with practical advice and opportunities to learn from others in the local business community.
Niall Mackey, Head of Business Banking, Capital Markets Southeast at AIB, also spoke about sustainability as a strategic priority for businesses.

He outlined how AIB is supporting customers through sustainable finance, practical tools, expert guidance and insight.
Attendees also heard from a panel featuring local industry representatives Clem Jacobs of ClemHire, Karen Murphy of Murphy Larkin Timber and Richie Murphy of CHI Eco Products.
The panel discussed practical ways sustainability can help businesses improve efficiency, reduce costs, strengthen resilience and remain competitive.
The event concluded with a networking session, giving local business leaders an opportunity to share experiences and build connections.
Waterford Chamber and AIB say the event reflects their commitment to helping regional businesses prepare for a more sustainable future.
