A vigil will take place at the Sacred Heart Church in Waterford City today, Wednesday, October 14th, following the devastating house fire in Birchwood which claimed the lives of four people.

The vigil will begin at 5pm, giving members of the community an opportunity to come together in remembrance of those who lost their lives.

Kim and Philip English along with their 12-year-old Callum and his nine-year-old brother Jayden, died following the fire in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Two other children, aged 14 and six, remain in a critical condition in hospital in Dublin.

Meanwhile, the Sacred Heart Family Resource Centre has announced additional supports for families and children affected by the tragedy.

A dedicated drop-in support service will take place on Friday, October 16th, from 9am until 5pm.

The centre says anyone seeking support, a listening ear or simply a place to be among others is welcome to attend.

Family support and therapeutic services will be available throughout the day.

Anyone seeking further information can contact the Sacred Heart Family Resource Centre on 051 306728.

The Butler Community Centre in St John’s Park will also reopen from 9am this morning, providing a space for members of the community to gather and support one another.

The announcements come as the local community continues to come to terms with the tragedy, which is now the subject of a Garda murder investigation.
