
Tributes are being paid following the death of Danny Cunningham, who was killed in a road traffic collision in Kilmeaden, Co. Waterford on Monday.
Mr Cunningham, who was aged in his 60s, died after the two-car collision on the R680 at Adamstown shortly before 2pm on Monday.
His family is widely known and highly respected in Waterford. His brother, David Cunningham, runs the family-owned Fresh Food Hall on Michael Street in Waterford city centre, which first opened its doors in 1988.
Mr Cunningham’s funeral will take place at St. Mary’s Church, Ballygunner, on Saturday, July 11th, at 12 noon, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.
His body was removed to University Hospital Waterford, where a post-mortem examination is due to take place.
No other injuries were reported as a result of the collision.
Gardaí are continuing to appeal to anyone who witnessed the crash, or who may have dashcam footage from the R680 at Adamstown between 1pm and 2pm on Monday, to contact Tramore Garda Station. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the collision are ongoing.
