A Dublin radio star has unexpectedly died in Spain, her family has confirmed.

Natasha Gillies, a long-running presenter with Dublin City FM, suddenly passed away in recent days, and her family has launched a GoFundMe page to help bring her body home to Ireland.

Natasha, or Tasha as her family called her, hosted The Irish Business Show for many years after joining the station in 2018.

The Dublin native interviewed several businesspeople and entrepreneurs during her time on the show.

The 46-year-old was also an ambassador for the Dublin Chamber of Commerce and ran an events company.

Her sister, Aimee Whelan, set up the GoFundMe page and described Natasha as ‘a bright light to everyone who knew her’.

She paid a heartbreaking tribute to her late sister and asked the public to help ‘bring Natasha home’.

Aimee wrote: ‘It is with a broken heart that we share the news that our beloved sister/mother/daughter/friend, Natasha, passed away unexpectedly in Spain.

‘Tasha was a bright light to everyone who knew her. She was kind, funny, loved adventures, and was passionate about her business and being on stage, making people smile.

‘Right now, our family is facing the heartbreaking task of bringing her home to Ireland so we can lay her to rest among the people who loved her most. The costs of international repatriation, funeral arrangements, and travel are significant, and we are asking for help.

‘Every euro raised will go directly toward bringing Tasha back to Irish soil so we can say goodbye properly and give her the funeral she deserves, surrounded by family and friends at home.

‘If you can’t donate, please share this page. Your love, prayers, and support mean everything to us during this impossible time.’

The fundraiser, which was launched on Monday, has already raised nearly €1,700 from 14 contributors. It has a goal of €4,500.
