Two men and a teenage boy were arrested over the weekend following a dramatic M50 Garda pursuit.

The incident happened at around 7pm on Sunday evening, with the Garda Air Support Unit deployed.

The three males are understood to be part of a well-known car theft gang, and are believed to have been behind a string of crimes across Dublin city in recent days.

The vehicle was eventually apprehended on the M50 near Clondalkin. Gardaí from Coolock arrested the three men. Two of the men were aged in their 20s, and another was in his teens.

A statement from An Garda Síochána confirmed they had launched a ‘coordinated response’ involving several local and divisional Garda units from across the DMR, including the Armed Support Unit (ASU) and Air Support.

The three arrested are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Garda stations in north Dublin, they added.

Gardaí said: ‘The vehicle, a VW Golf which had been reported stolen during a recent burglary in the Santry area, has been recovered and brought for technical examination.

‘No injuries were reported during this incident. Investigations are ongoing.’
