A teenager was tragically killed in a collision between a car and a lorry on Tuesday afternoon.

The crash occurred on the N52 in the Johnsbrook area of Fordstown, Meath, at around 12.30pm.

Emergency services were rushed to the incident, but the teenager, who was the driver of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The teenager’s remains were to be taken to Our Lady’s Hospital in Navan, where a post-mortem was due to take place.

The male lorry driver, meanwhile, received medical attention at the scene.

Part of the N52 has been closed as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators carry out a technical examination of the scene.

Confirming the crash, Gardaí stated: ‘The male driver of the car, aged in his late teens, who was the sole occupant, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body will be removed to the mortuary in Our Lady’s Hospital, Navan where a post mortem will take place in due course. The male driver of the lorry received medical attention at the scene.

‘The N52 road is closed between the junction of the R154 towards Killua, to allow for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

‘Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward.

‘Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N52 between Fordstown and Clonmellon between 12pm and 1pm Tuesday, September 22, 2026, are asked to make this footage available to the investigating Gardaí.
