South East Technological University is celebrating the achievements of up to 4,000 graduates across Waterford, Carlow and Wexford as its 2026 conferring ceremonies get underway.
The Waterford ceremonies will take place on October 29th and 30th, following the opening conferrings in Carlow earlier this week.
Graduates from a wide range of disciplines will receive their awards, marking one of the biggest events in the university calendar.
SETU President Professor Veronica Campbell congratulated the Class of 2026 and said graduates are joining a global alumni community of more than 100,000 people.
This year’s ceremonies will also see honorary doctorates awarded to former Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and sociologist Professor Pat O’Connor.
Mr. Varadkar is being recognised for his contribution to public service, while Professor O’Connor will be honoured for her academic work and contribution to gender equality.
The 2026 conferring ceremonies began in Carlow yesterday, on October 27th and will continue today, October 28th, with Waterford ceremonies taking place on October 29th and 30th before the final conferrings in Wexford on November 6th.
