
A man has died following a collision in Co Cork, and has become the second person in 24 hours to die on Irish roads.
The incident occurred between the times of 10pm on Monday evening (September 14) and 2.10am on Tuesday morning (September 15). The single-vehicle collision involved a van and occurred on the Lee Road in Cork.
The driver of the van, a man in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been removed to the local mortuary, where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

The coroner has been notified, and Gardaí say that the Lee Road is closed pending an investigation by the Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward. Anyone who was travelling on the Lee Road, Cork between 10am on Monday, September 14 and 2.10am on Tuesday, September 15, and who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, is asked to make the footage available to Gardaí.

This collision comes after a man in his 60s died following a four-vehicle collision in Cashel, Co Tipperary on Monday afternoon.
The collision, involving a van and three cars, occurred at approximately 5.40pm on the R688 at Cooper’s Lot, Cashel, on Monday, September 14.
The driver of one of the cars, a man in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene, while a man in his 40s, who was driving the van involved, was conveyed to Tipperary University Hospital Clonmel for treatment of serious injuries. No other injuries were reported at the time.

Anyone who was travelling in the area of Cooper’s Lot, Cashel between 5pm and 6pm on Monday, September 14 and who may have camera footage relating to this incident is asked to make the footage available to Gardaí.
