The South East Science Festival returns this weekend with a programme of events taking place across Waterford, Carlow and the Suir Valley in Tipperary.
Running from Saturday, November 7th to Sunday, November 15th, the festival forms part of national Science Week.
This year’s theme is ‘Water: From Molecule to Ocean’, with events exploring everything from weather forecasting and crime scene investigation to food, climate and biodiversity.

A number of Waterford-based events are included in the programme.
Environmental artist Sean Corcoran will host an event on the Copper Coast, while Morgan VanderKamer’s Water into Wine event at Union restaurant will explore how water can influence the flavour of wine.
There will also be a screening of Camino Voyage, which follows a 2,500km journey by sea from Ireland to northern Spain.
Researchers and lecturers from South East Technological University will also feature throughout the festival, highlighting work being carried out across a range of scientific fields.
The programme includes both free and ticketed events for schools, families and adult audiences.
Calmast Director Dr. Sheila Donegan said the festival aims to bring science into communities and encourage people to engage with research in an accessible way.
The South East Science Festival is coordinated by Calmast, SETU’s STEM engagement centre, with support from Research Ireland.
