
One person has died and over a dozen have been injured in a road traffic incident in West Waterford this evening.
The incident between a car and a bus happened on the N25 near Kinsalebeg, close to Pilltown and between Youghal and Ardmore.
None of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
The deceased is understood to have been travelling in the car which was in a collision with the bus.
Gardaí and emergency services remain at the scene this evening.
The road is currently closed with local diversions in place.
Speaking to WLR, Sinn Féin TD based in West Waterford, Conor D. McGuinness, has expressed his condolences.
“This is devastating news, and my thoughts are first and foremost with the person who has lost their life and with their family and loved ones at this very difficult time.
“My thoughts are also with those who have been injured and everyone affected by this terrible collision.
“I am thinking too of the emergency service personnel who are dealing with the incident tonight, including the Gardaí, ambulance crews and Fire Service personnel.
“I would ask people travelling in the area to take care, follow the advice of the emergency services and use alternative routes where possible.”
