Residents in parts of the Dungarvan area are being urged to conserve water as Uisce Éireann introduces night-time restrictions to help protect daytime supplies.

Customers in Abbeyside, Ballinroad, Clonea, Caseyville and surrounding areas may experience low water pressure or temporary interruptions between 11pm and 7am over the coming week.

The restrictions are being introduced due to low treated water reservoir levels and sustained demand in the area, with Uisce Éireann saying the measures are necessary to support reservoir recovery and safeguard water supplies for homes, businesses, farms and essential services during the day.

Some customers may also experience localised outages while essential leak repair works are carried out on the network.

Operations Manager with Uisce Éireann, Maura Phelan, said the overnight restrictions are helping to maintain daytime water supplies across the Dungarvan area.

‘We are asking customers to continue making every effort to conserve water throughout the week,’ she said.

‘By reducing non-essential water use, everyone can help protect local supplies and support reservoir recovery.’

People are being encouraged to avoid unnecessary water use where possible, including limiting the use of hoses and sprinklers, taking shorter showers, only running dishwashers and washing machines with full loads, and checking their homes or businesses for leaks.

Customers are also encouraged to sign up to Uisce Éireann’s free text alert service to receive updates on supply interruptions and planned repair works affecting their area.
