A new recruitment campaign has sparked speculation that Nando’s could be preparing to open its first restaurant in Waterford.

The restaurant chain is currently advertising for a General Manager for a Waterford location, with in-person interviews due to take place in Waterford City next week.

According to the job listing, interviews will be held at Dooley’s Hotel on Merchants Quay on Thursday, September 3rd, between 9am and 4pm.

The full-time General Manager position offers a salary of between €51,000 and €60,000 per year.

The job description states that the successful candidate will be responsible for running a restaurant, working towards targets and KPIs and developing and growing their team.

Nando’s is seeking someone with leadership experience in a customer-focused environment, alongside experience driving sales.

Successful applicants are also being offered a three-month General Manager training programme.

WLR News contacted Nando’s seeking confirmation on whether the recruitment drive signals plans to open a restaurant in Waterford.

A spokesperson said the company does not have ‘any confirmations to share just yet’, but told WLR to ‘keep an eye out on our website for more coming soon.’

No potential location or opening date has been announced.

The recruitment of a General Manager specifically for Waterford, however, has raised the possibility that the popular PERi-PERi chicken chain is preparing to establish a presence in the city.
