A man in his late teens has been seriously injured following a single-vehicle collision on the N24 near Carrigeen, on approach to Mooncoin Co. Kilkenny.
The collision, involving a car, happened near Aglish South at approximately 12.05am this morning.
The driver was taken to University Hospital Waterford before being transferred to Cork University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The N24 remains closed while Garda Forensic Collision Investigators carry out an examination of the scene, with local diversions in place.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Anyone who was travelling on the N24 near Aglish South, Carrigeen, between 11.30pm last night and 12.10am this morning and who may have camera or dash-cam footage is asked to make it available to Gardaí.
